Mid April garden update
Warm days, cold nights, my greenhouse thermometer shows only +2C minimum. But we are not afraid of cold anymore!
Strawberries are good on the black top.
Garlic - green and tall.
More garlic, kohlrabi and baby kale.
Overwintered boc choi.
Overwintered blue kale
Radish bed, big leaves but no radishes yet.
Baby asian greens.
Celery, may be it is too cold for them.
Inside the greehhouse. Left - peppers and cucumbers (not germinated yet), right tomatoes and flowers and trays.
Even +2C (+35.5 F) does not make my peppers feel sad.
Cucumber - experiment started inside at 1/1/2013. The cuce is 1-1/2 inches now.
Peppers row.
Tomatoes - may be too narrow, 1-2 feet space between.
I planted them almost horizontally, adding some bone meal to the hole.
Those first tomatoes were planted 3 days ago and now they are standing almost up.
Baby basil - cute!
Spinach - can't wait to eat.
Baby lemon balm - cute too.
Zinnias and teddy sunflowers.

I did it ...before the rain! or greenhouse day 4
I did it!
There should be rainy and much cooler days and I wanted the finish my greenhouse, at least I can work inside.
And there were a lot of green waiting for transplalting before the rains - like those winter -sowed tat soy.
There is a door frame.
I add a bout 1 inch space between the walls and door frame for extra insulation.
And celery and fennel are waiting for me.
Lettuces and mustard.
I also added string support to reduce wind flapping.
Meanwhile red currant grows such nice shots!
Green peas are coming!

So back to the door! I had some old laminate floor panels, I cut it to 6 equal triangles.
The frame is ready, I covered the screws with duck tape

The last minute before the next chore - I added door hinges and - the door is (almost) ready.
I need the door knob, insulation, upper and lower parts and may be more later, but I am ready to work inside tomorrow when the rain will start!
Can you believe I never did something like this! This is my first project such big (and a garden fence too)
For the greenhouse project I used the ideas from
50-dollar-hoop-house-green-house
Thank you!!!

Garden update -April
Th hoop house is almost ready! Those days are so windy, it is very hard to work.

I need to add more support to the roof, the door and ventilation.
Th hoop house is 11 feet wide, and I made the beds wide too.
It was 20 C today inside and only 12 C outside and very windy.
I planted them with kitchen-window-parley inside.
Outside in the garden some greens are good, some not. This is boc choi, very nice one.
:)
Transplanted radishes do not forming bulbs, only red root.
:(
Napa cabbage grows twice bigger in one week!
:)
Green bed - some of them are bolting. :(
