DIY grow bags tutorial for zucchini, potatoes or sweet potatoes

My garden is in partial shade and the sunniest part I have here is a large deck, but most of the plants require a lot of growing space.
I was thinking about making grow bags, in a fast and  inexpensive way.
I have black garden fabric from Costco,  it is 48" wide.

Step 1. Cut a square 48x48"
 
Step 2. Cut in half.

Step 3. Sew the rim on long side.

 

Step 4. Sew side and bottom.















 Grow bag in process.

 Step 5. Making "ears".
I called them "ears". Fold the bag.











Make the folds and sew them.












Step 6. Turn the bag inside out

 and grow!

 I transplanted 2 of my zucchini.

The finished bag from 48x24" peace of fabric is
14x14x14 inches or about 12 gallons.
It took me 30 minutes to sew 6 bags

Cold outside - working with containers

Second day is very cold and windy outside so I am working on my future container garden.

 I transpanted some of the biggest zucchini squashes in larger containers (black beauty and Italian summer mix). I also added some of the lettuce Little Caesar on sides.

 5 Chard pots - charm in the middle and some greens around - komatsuna mustard, bock choi,
also marigold.

One bid chard pot - Large Ribbed Chard with komatsuna and lettuce in front. One small nasturtium flower in the middle. I hope it will be nice in some weeks.

Eggplants, zucchini and more

It seems that "summer" is over and there is spring again, only 60F.
but my little green friends can not wait!

 I love zucchini and hope to get a good harvest.

My Kentucky Beans. I am going to hang them from the balcony except from using stacks.

I see that my tomatoes are doing pretty well after I transplanted them in individual pots with compost and bone meal. There are growing 3rd real leaf now.

There is a biggest one - beefsteak. All those warm days there are outside on my balcony, fresh air, sun and about 45F at night!

But eggplants and peppers are very slowly. I hope that transplanting will help. So today I was transplanting my little eggplants (long purple).

Warm day without internet

Yesterday was a really warm day! And I did not have my internet for 6 hr!
I usually work in my online store the whole day,  but yesterday the nature seems to asked me to work outside.
So I transplanted my tomatoes!
Oh my back!
I  have total 45 plants of red beefsteak,
red Siberian,
yellow and red plum
and sun gold.
I planted all if my compost soil and added 1/2 tsp of bone meal for roots, I am not sure about it, it will be a part of the experiment.

I would like to plant some of the plum and sun gold in hanging baskets on my deck.
My backyard is very shady,  I am fighting for the each sunny spot to make beds.

And I still the most sunniest part on my deck, so may be most of my tomatoes and eggplants will live there in containers.
May be I will plant some  zucchini in containers too.

Zucchini and squashes are doing well, very health, as I think. I would like to have a lot of zucchini! I love them. And my husband is vegan, do you understand what it's mean? :)
