Orchids reanimation in mini glass greenhouse

I have had health issue and a lot of plants died......
My orchids also have large scales problem.
Recently I found time and effort to fix it.

Re-potting orchids brought some joy and some problems - some of them almost have to roots.
At least I started to number them and make records.



 Phalaenopsis orchid #5 is big, with huge green leaves and no roots,









 

 but there are a lot of black root buds (they suppose to be green, but it is a good sign that we have them).

 Phalaenopsis orchid #7 has only 2 small and soft leaves but some roots.

There is a portable hospital for sick orchids - old fish tank. Broken old clay pots on the bottom, followed with perlite, aragonite and sphagnum moss.

The weather is wet and humidity in room is 50%, temp +19C. I think it is low for sick orchids.

 I added warm water to the bottom of the tank, put a mug with boiling water, misted the moss with warm water, added clear plastic sheet on the top with 2 lamps - one daylight and one - regular to add warms.







The temp and humidity are starting to rise.

Orchids relocation

I woke up today, look at my schedule, went next to my orchids shelf and saw the humidity is 36 again.
It is so low for orchids, and I wonder how everything needs our time and hands!
When I am busy with work, I can not do gardening, when I do something with seedlings, I can not find time for houseplants! How to be more organized?

 So, no work this morning, I decided to relocate orchids to a bedroom on the small greenhouse. My husband was....agreed......

First I gave them a good shower, cold and than hot.

 2 humidity trays under the shelf will help to keep the good condition, I hope.
The small orchid one friend gave me to care for with only 2 leaves and one normal root is starting to grow at last, 3 new leaves and 3 new green roots!
I guess it can be better with proper temp/humid. level.

Only one orchid is blooming this month, small unnamed Phalaenopsis , and one has stack with blooms.
I hope they will all feel better.
I just need to find time for everything I want!

Orchids - blooming season

When the weather outside is not warm enough, I am enjoying my inside orchids garden.

It is a blooming season, but my babies were slowly that time.
Most of them I have bought in regular stores without a species names, so 3 of them are just phalaenopsis.

 And this one I have bought from the nursery, and the name is - Oncidium Helmut Rohri "Purple Waters".
And this one is blooming since December!

I had orchids over last 5 years, but only 2 years ago I learned one trick - hot shower!
Ones a week, or in 2 weeks,
I put all my orchids in a shower tub and spray them first with warm water and than with a really hot water. May be is works as shock therapy, may be it feels like a tropical rain, but orchids like hot shower, they are growing more leaves and blooming ofter after that.
Just be careful, always pre-soak flowers with color or worm water, so you will not cook them, and let them completely dry after the shower, do not water 2-3 days after.
